I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ

July 28, 2014

Mom:)

I´m so happy to hear from you and to hear all of the miracles that are going on at home. There are really so many people that are incredible examples of Christlike love and service. I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ. I love having Christ as my constant Goal. Mom, I can´t believe it has been a year. I turned a year on the mission this week. It doesn´t feel real at all. But I´m so happy. God has blessed me so much and I want to continue giving back to him.

Bartololmé - Recent convert. He is doing so great! We read the book of mormon with his this week and she understood everything perfectly. He has such a good attitude and desire to serve .We are helping his get prepared to recieve the aaronic priesthood soon!

Jaime - Our biggest miracle this week. We had a lesson with him this week and he was a completely different person than before. In the lesson he told us of the experience he had after coming to church the last sunday. He said while he was there he felt a lot of love and friendship from a few of the members, none of which he had met before. This really impressed him and as he was walking home he started thinking about the friends that he had, none of which had ever shown him that much love and interest. This really impacted him and as he continued to walk he felt like he wanted to cry and he couldn´t keep it in. After that experience he decided that he wanted to change his life. He decided to stop drinking with his friends and to get up earlier in the morning to go running. He also told us that he kept having the image of me and my companion teaching him coming into his head. He says he loves meeting with us and He wants to keep coming to church because after he feels like he has more spiritual strength to keep going. I know that we have seen this miracle because we have been praying for him everyday.

Alexia - Recent convert. She is doing so awesome. She is studying out of preach my gospel and even writes down her thoughts and testimony on the side columns. She still has about 6 years until she can serve a mission but she is going to be the best missionary ever.

Tian - Is a chinese girl that we met and we started helping her study for her english exams. On saturday her mom drove us in there car to the chapel for the english classes and we were able to give them a tour of the chapel. They really liked it and want to come one sunday to see all of the people there.

This week.... I FINISHED THE BOOK OF MORMON IN SPANISH!!! :) I feel so happy saying that. For me it is a big accomplishment. I remember when I first started reading it I had to read one verse in spanish then repeat it in english. Now I don´t even need my english scriptures near me. And even just to finish it. This was the third time I´ve read the whole book all the way through (I´ve read it once before alone and once with my family). I know that The Book of Mormon is true. I know that it is the word of God and that it testifies of Jesus Christ as the Saviour of the world. I know that it brings us closer to God and helps us to being more like His Son, Jesus Christ. And I know that anyone and everyone that reads this book, and then asks God sincerely and with real intent, to know if it´s true, that they can and will recieve their own answer. And that answer will change your life.

I know that Christ lives and He is our Savior. I know that God is our Father and He loves us SO much. I know that if we pray in faith we will recieve answers to our prayers and God will give us miracles according to our faith in His Son Jesus Christ.

Segovia

July 21

Hola de Segovia:)

Today my companion and I are in Segovia with a group of Elders from our District and the missionaries that are serving here.

This week has been a bit crazy but good. On Tuesday we had a Leadership training meeting and since I´m the only Hermana Leader in my zone I had to travel a lone so that was really really weird. Then on Wednesday we had Zone meeting and I had to give a talk. I talked about working with the members and helping them receive blessing from missionary work. Wednesday my companion had an hypoglycemia in the middle of the night and we had to give her the emergency shot and call the medics. It was a miracle that she was conscious and able to tell me what to do, because I am not an emergency person. After everything ended we said a prayer together and we both were crying. She is better now but the whole experience has kind of freaked me out and so sleeping has been a bit harder this week. But overall I am just really grateful to God. He really blessed us both in that situation. Thursday we spent a lot of time in the hospital while my companion had some tests don. Friday we were able to plan and have some lessons again. On saturday we had exchanges again and I was with Hermana Gálvez. She is from canada but her parents are from costa rica and guatemala. She has only been here for a month but she is an awesome missionary already. We had some really great lessons and not one of them failed! Probably the best exchange I´ve had my whole mission. Yesterday we had 2 new investigators come to church Mari and Jaime. Mari - is doing so great. She can be really hard to teach sometimes because she loves to talk. But we realized something really important about her learning process. We teach her a concept, then she is able to process what we just taught her and apply it to herself by relating it to other life experiences that she´s had. The teaching process may take longer but she is really learning and progressing and applying the gospel to her life. Jaime - has a lot of questions! They are all very good questions, though he gets very distracted because as we try to answer once question, another question comes to his mind. He has a lot of desire to learn though and has already read to 3 nephi in the book of mormon! While this week has been stressful we have also seen many miracles and tender mercies. (much more than I am able to write)

os envío muchos besitos :)

Baptism

July 14, 2014

Dear mom:)

Wow I love hearing all about Hawaii and seeing the pictures. Aren´t we so blessed to be able to do things like that and celebrate being a family? I can´t wait to be with you all again:) But for now, I´m finding a pretty amazing "family" here as well.

Bartolomé se bautizó!!!!!:) It was a lovely baptism and I really felt the spirit a lot. He was also confirmed a member of the church yesterday and recieved the gift of the Holy Ghost. He recieved some very beautiful blessings about the temple which made me really happy and excited for him.

This week I had my first intercambio as a sister training leader. I love working with the hermanas. They have so much love, faith, and desire to be here serving the Lord. Their testimonies are so strong and pure. I went on an intercambio with Hermana Clements who is in her second transfer here on the mission. I met her at the beginning of her first transfer and to see how much she has grown and improved as a missionary in just one transfer really amazed me. God really does bless, guide, and lift His servants.

This week God has really been incredible to us. We are seeing so many little miracles and so much progress with everyone we are working with. Sandra - is the brasilanian (is that how you say it) that we are teaching english to. We teach her using the book of mormon and the pamphlets of the church. We also bring other members from the ward that know a little bit of english. We also do volunteer work with her on monday evenings. We have really gained a great relationship with her. This week we have really started seeing the spirit working with her. She told us that she was praying the other night and she felt that she needed to start dressing more modestly. She also told us that she felt the impression to stop drinking coffee in the mornings because it wasn´t good for her health. We have not talked about anything of these things with her and so it´s amazing to see how she is listening to and following these spiritual impressions. It was her birthday this past week so we threw her a birthday party in the church and invited the other misisonaries, ward members, and investigators. It was really great to have everyone there having a good time.

Last P-day we were stopped by this girl while getting off of the bus and she wanted to know what church we were from. She has investigated a lot of churches but she´s never heard of ours. We ended up have a lesson with her right there and taking down her number. We had a couple of lessons with her this week and she also came to the birthday party. During the secong lesson we had she told us that she has felt so happy and at peace since she had last met with us. She is very prepared to recieve the gospel and we´re very excited to see her progression in the gospel.

This past transfer and a half my testimony of God´s love and been greatly strengthened. I feel and see His love for us everyday. I feel that as a missionary I am more able to see how He shows me His love. In an email I wrote to a friend I said "This work is surely amazing, and it continues to change me every day. Yesterday as I was sitting in sacrament meeting I had the thought that As a missionary, the gospel of Jesus Christ literally influences every step I take. I am constantly thinking about Jesus Christ and how I can be more like Him, and help other people to know what he means to them. It really has given my life a whole new meaning, and given me a whole new outlook on life itself. I feel very blessed and happy." I hope to be able to continue having this constant influece of Jesus Christ for the rest on my life.

I love you :)
